Comment Finished date April 2025
Last time I did Doodlewash, I decided to go with the same media for all of it (ink and watercolour). But now it is spring and I would like to experiment, let's see where I end up.

I'll mix some Sketch-it 2025 and FreshARTpril drawings in here as well. It will be an April mash-up

2. Wallaby - for his prompt I wanted to try ballpoint pen, I have some lovely BIC 4-colour ballpoint pens that I haven't tried for art yet. No initial pencil sketch, this is done directly in ballpoint pen. This BIC has yellow, orange, pink and purple ink. Instagram link

3. Black Heron - this is a very clever bird who uses it's wings to shade the water below and catch fish, I just had to paint it! This is ink and watercolour about A6 size.

5. Pincushion - I have had this pincushion since I was a child and it still lives next to my sewing machine. This is ink and watercolour painted from life. Instagram link

11. Sketch-it - City - Inspired by the news yesterday. A parrot in Gothenberg got stuck in a tree, and when the fire department came to the rescue, the bird told them to fuck off. It only left the tree when enticed by a packet of cigarettes, and when re-united with the owner it bit him repeatedly (did not bite the fire department). I wonder what the owner had done? So a bit of city news

The drawing was done from start to finish with BIC 4-colour ballpoint pens, it is A6 on drawing paper.

11. FreshARTpril - Strawberry - I had to try to draw a strawberry as well in pen, this is a challenge hosted by VerryBerryDraws to boost creativity. The drawing is also in BIC 4-colour ballpoint pens, it is A6 on drawing paper.

12. Sea angel - is a sea slug that "flies" under water. It looks very serene and beautiful...until you watch how it catches its pray; the head opens up and big octopus-like arms shoot out and catch the pray and then holds it for 45 minutes while it eats!!!! Yikes!!!

This is ink and watercolour, after it was dry I added highlights with white pencil and copic opaque white.

13. FreshARTpril - Pear - one of the things I love about watercolour is that it moves on it's own and creates things. This pear only took a few minutes to create. It is watercolour; W&N quinacridone gold, quinacridone red & Indigo (my favourites).

14. Sketch-it - Insect - I used to keep praying mantises, these were my favourites to handle, the docile ghost mantis. The drawing was done from start to finish with BIC 4-colour ballpoint pens, it is A6 on drawing paper.
